Forgetting

I have been absolutely terrible at updating this blog lately, because of studies and Metroid Prime.

But I have some news:

The draft for chapter 1 of It's Complicated is now finished, and I'll start on the actual drawings in a few days.

An Apple a Day now has the big buffer I promised myself I'd make for it before I starting to post. Unfortunately, I've used up nearly all of my researched materials for it already, and I want to at least have another batch of jokes before I get it online. I'm currently looking into the possibility of making my own website for it for now, but it's likely the comic will start out as a tumblr blog before I have things figured out. It will probably be at least another week before I start posting.

And lastly, I have finished two chapter drafts for the story I've been writing. It's going slow, but it's getting there, and I figure I'm about 10% done with the first draft. This is my least priority, however, and it's going to take a lot longer than my comic projects.

The Night

Again, I've been bad at updating. I have plenty of stuff though, but it's tiring to keep posting everything three times or more. For quicker updates, if you don't mind a flood of random other things, you might want to consider visiting my tumblr.

One thing I might have neglected to mention before is that my external harddrive, where I kept a lot of my art and photos (including the ones from this summer's exhibition) is failing. I don't dare to use it anymore until I can afford getting it looked at and possibly repaired or transferring the stuff on it to a new one.

But here's some of the stuff I've been working on:

• I'm re-working the script of chapter one for OOPS, now re-named "It's Complicated", which you might remember from this post . Now, it's rather important that I get on with the comic making instead of perfecting the same chapter over and over again, but I've realised from looking at the first chapter after months of being too stressed to draw that I have a lot to learn. And I want to make a good first impression at the very least, because that part is critical when people decide if they want to stick with it or not. And, I've also decided that I am going to put this comic online. After all, what's the point of comicking if people can't read what you make? I was never a fan of hoarding stuff in the first place, even if I seem to do it exceedingly often these days. It might take some time before it gets online, but it will happen. I've learned my lessons from online comicking in the past, and having a buffer is vital, or you will face deadline after deadline, each pressuring you more than before. The horrible thing about that is that it saps away both the quality and the joy of comicking. Instead of feeling satisfaction for having made something good, you feel relieved that you've gotten it over with. And believe me, that's not a good thing if you have to keep drawing weekly updates. So again, a buffer is vital.
• As a nice break from drawing constant quality, I'm drawing another comic project on the side. It's called An Apple A Day, and will probably contain some of the lamest humour you've ever seen, penis jokes and more generally bad stuff... in the form of comic strips. I feel like I should probably be shy about it, because it's not exactly the type of thing you'd show your parents. But I can't be bothered! 8D ...The art style is completely different from what I've been doing before, and it's a huge relief. I do it all completely freestyle, no sketch lineart, no pressure. It feels great! There'll be a sneak-a-peak next time I post, for sure. But it's the same thing there. I'm building a buffer. And my ambition is to be able to produce these things daily, but until I'm sure I can do that, I don't want to get in over my head. This is a very new way of comicking for me, and it requires a lot of brainstorming.
• I've taken up writing again. (When did I ever write? ...you might wonder. A long time ago, but it was mostly bad fanfiction.) I've found that after moving to London, I feel a lot more confident with written English. And writing just stories instead of slightly robotic scripts is a very nice exercise in thinking about the feel of a story, as well as a good release for when my head is too crammed with ideas to draw. If things go well, I just might post these stories somewhere as well, but I'm not making any promises as they're not my highest priority. There will likely be plenty of concept art though, if I can manage not to hoard stuff.

And that's all for today. I'm going to work ar finding someone to kick my ass for when I'm incapable of doing it myself, because some asskickings are in order for me to actually do stuff.

(The right kind, mind you. The art of motivating someone else is a hard one. I feel I might save this topic for later.)

Diver and Mermaid

I think I'm reaching a happy compromise between the style I'm drawing my comics in and the style I usually do CGs in.
Obviously, I haven't been updating as much as I've intended to do.
Life has been hectic in a number of different ways, and my external harddrive has sadly passed away, but here goes! Here's to 2012 being a much more inspired year than the last.

A lot of things have happened, the biggest one being that I've moved to another country. Hopefully I can post a lot more from now on!

A bit of other news: I'm back to actually having time to draw my own things again.
I know I said before the exhibition that I'd post the painting I made, but life has been far to hectic to do much.
I still will, at one point.
Things are a bit complicated right now. I don't have a decent scanner, and my external harddrive seems to be failing, so I don't dare to do much until I've had it looked at.
Also, I'm moving soon, so my time is filled up with preparations for that.

And lastly, to raise a bit more money for rent and new art supplies, I'm going to try to have a sale of my drawings and paintings soon.

A small preview

This is one of the many pictures I was commissioned to draw for a short film one of my friends has been making. It's been an insane project!
Consider this a small preview. The film itself will likely be online sometimes in mid July.

I haven't been able to post anything for a while now, because this project has been huge. But it's finished now! ( And I apologize if I haven't replied to comments.)

I still might not be able to post a lot for a while as I need to get my laptop repaired, but I figured I should at least show you a bit of what I've been doing.

Dress shoot, part 2

So, this is my first post in a while! I don't have much stuff to post at the moment because I'm working on a huge commission for a friend and am on a deadline, but I did take a break today to see my talented friend Ronja and shoot this dress again. (Designed by me and sewn by the amazing Louise.)

I picked this shot because it's the one that shows of the dress the best.

And lastly, this is my definite favourite out of all of the pictures.

I had a hard time picking these out. All of them were amazing. =)


... And I definitely had fun climbing trees like a monkey. XD

Pub Brawl Irma

A sketch of Irma, from my idea of an rp/art challenge which doesn't really consist of much. Just action, brawling and insulting in a pub setting. Right now nothing's happening with it, but I figure I'll have the rules ready by summer.
But until then I'm only recruiting and having fun with Irma's design and background story. Hoping to get as many people to join as possible

I'm taking a break from comicking until I get new materials as I spilled my last ink in my panic right before the London trip. It's kind of nice now actually.
And the result is that I've been painting insanely much lately. I'm working on stupidly complicated things though, so nothing's finished yet. But I'm having fun! And that's awesome.
